MOSAIC and Matriarchy

In honor of International Women’s Day, the Ecosocialist Horizons Hour (EHH) is pleased to release this special episode focusing on a revolutionary initiative underway in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania led by two powerful ecosocialist / matriarchal activists: Ayanna R’Auf and Dana Harris Yates.

These two womyn, and many others, are developing the MOSAIC Garden Project, which is scheduled to launch in Pittsburgh from April 25-27, 2014, as part of Arbor day. MOSAIC stands for the Movement of Oppressed Sectors Acting in Concert, a concept borrowed from the writings of former Black Panther and political prisoner Russell Maroon Shoatz.

Both Ayanna and Dana are activists with histories in the Black Liberation Movement of the sixties, seventies and eighties. This broadcast touches on the new political ground being forged by these visionary activists and asks “what does it mean to be free” in the age of GMOs and mass obesity.

EHH is not meant for the faint of heart. Join us with courage, spirit, and a bit of humor that is needed to answer the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced.
